Thailand Part 2

Asia 2 Entry for June 08, 2006

More on the Thailand Leg...

The people of South Thailand eat out for virtually every meal. A tradition that would make even Portlanders jealous. Food is very cheap and very delicious. This top photo is us eating in the highest tower in HatYai (34 stories) There was lightning flashing in the clouds in the distance over the city and big ol bats flying around us just outside the windows. Very Surreal. The missionaries we encountered were very cool people. Level headed, sharp, loving, perseverant, and full of good humor. Most of the team we worked with were Filipino learning Thai through classes and immersion. Thai is tonal and very challenging to learn. It is so encouraging to see missionaries from one Asian country fired actively reaching out to other Asian countries. Gone are the days when only Americans and Europeans were missionaries. Missions has become a truly international effort.

It is possible that the Lord may call Alison and I to do this again in the future. We shall see. I was definitely blessed and privileged to be a part of this venture.
